A nice iPod Alternative
|
Our family has a number of iPods. I am on my second (a classic 160), my 13 year old daughter is on her 3rd (1st gen shuffle, 1st gen Nano, now 2nd Gen Nano). My wife has my first iPod (4th gen 40GB) as hers, and my 11 year old son has the daughter's first shuffle. When he saved his money, he wanted something different. He bought a Zune.
From his perspective, the battery lasts forever, the screen is huge, and he loves that he can send pictures and tunes back and forth with his friends. From my perspective, it's built solid, has a killer screen, the Zune software was quick to load and doesn't interfere with iTunes. The wireless was a snap to setup, even with security, and it syncs well (but doesn't seem to sync video over wireless). The interface is less restrictive than iTunes, as you can grab and load music from a "guest" library with ease. Overall, I'm really impressed with the look, quality, and features of the product. If they'd come out with this before the iPod, we'd all be singing a different tune. As such, MS beat Apple in the OS war, and has as much chance of winning this one as Apple has of gaining back OS dominance. |
