Nice, but not super

PROS:
- Great sound quality
- Good level of noise reduction
- Long thin cord
- Comfortable
CONS:
- No clothing clip
- Cord rubbing transfers noise into ear
- Storage clip seems impractical for daily use
For the price, this is a very nice set of earbud headphones. I've been using them for about two weeks. I found that Sony should have included a clothing clip (something to attach the cord to your collar) instead of the impractical storage case.
The case serves two purposes: 1) Store the buds inside. I suppose this would be nice if you're storing them or packing for travel, but not practical for daily use. 2) Wrap the cord around to shorten the length. The cord is pretty long (which is nice), but can be too long if you keep your player close to your head (like a shoulder-high pocket). So, you'll need to shorten the cord a bit. However, the storage case looks like a big pill and adds weight to the cord. Instead, I use a twisty tie to shorten the cord.
The buds are very comfortable to wear and offer a good level of noise reduction -- enough to drown out loud city noises so you don't have to crank up the volume, but not too much where you can't hear your surroundings. Very appropriate for busy city streets like NYC. However, anything that touches the cord leading to the buds will transfer the rubbing sound directly into your ears. Someone on another post said if you want to hear what it's like, stick your index finger in your ear and then rub it with another finger -- that's a good explanation. Initially, this bothered me, but after a few days, I didn't even notice it anymore.
Overall, a good product and I would recommend it to a friend. |
