♥♥♥♥ Sony CMTEX1 - Almost Perfect
This is a very cool looking system. The speakers and trim are made of light-colored simulated wood. The front body is composed mainly of a thick glass which houses a vertical see-thru CD player. The CD pops out on top like in a toaster. The buttons have a very nice soft blue glow in them. The back is very clean, and even has a cover that hides all the cabling - nice to have if you want to place this on your desk. Anyway, it looks amazing.

As for how well it sounds, I'm not an expert in this, but it sounded great to my ears. The bass is a little weak, but this seems common on executive desktop systems I have tried. Its simulated surround and Dynamic Sound Generator makes up a little bit for this by making the sound more fuller. It also had enough power for my taste, much more than what I would ever need for my room. But one thing I would have liked is a bass/tremble control.

Home made CD-RW and CD-R CDs seems to work fine. The only problem I had was that I couldn't seek back to the previous track on one particular CD-RW written in DAO (disk-at-once) mode.

And since the specs aren't up yet on Amazon, it comes with these features: AM/FM tuner, AM/FM memory, CD player, CD text, CD shuffled/programmed modes, simulated surround, line-in, line-out, optical digital in, earphone jack, remote, clock, wakeup timer, and sleep timer. Check Sonys site for pictures and more info.

Tip: I used the line-in jack to plug in a Rio 600 MP3 player and it worked great!
