excellent TV - great price
|
I bought this TV a few weeks ago and am quite happy about it. I was not looking for a TV to hang on the wall and after looking at plasma/LCD, decided this was the best deal going on. My first choice was a LCD but the pricing on anything >52in is prohibitive. Also, as factories ramp up in asia, prices are going keep falling. DLP/SXRD etc. I believe are bottoming out. The final choice was between a Samsung DLP and this SONY and while the Samsung was larger (by an inch!) and slightly lower priced, the SONY had much better features, color and style. The picture is very natural as opposed to the Samsung which looks unnaturally bright.
I have not tinkered too much with the settings (there are a lot of settings to satisfy the geekiest of users), although I had to lower the brightness/contrast settings. SDTV on this is OK, you need atleast 10ft distance. DVDs on an upscaling player are absolutely great! I am sure a bluray would be downright mindblowing! Now that the format war is over, I will be shopping around for one..
I am sorry to see this one discontinued. I am very happy with it and overall an excellent TV from SONY.
