Great TV & Great Samsung Service

I bought this TV from Amazon last August and, it being my first LCD, instantly loved it. I'm not as technical as many of the reviewers on here but from a layperson's perspective, here's what I liked:
1. As with all Samsung products, you get a really good quality TV for a really competitive price. Many of the comparable TV's I looked at were 150-200 more for the same essential features.
2. 1080p is really REALLY clear, but you need an upconverting DVD player to really capture the full effect. You can find them online for under $100, and Amazon is even giving them away (as of today) with purchase.
3. As other reviewers have noted, the picture quality is noticeably lower on non-HD channels, but I don't think it's the TV itself, I think it's just a general HD/non-HD comparison that you normally don't get all within the same set. My recommendation is to not watch the TV from ~10 feet or less and you won't notice much difference.
About 3 weeks after I purchased this TV from Amazon, I noticed a solid (thin) bar which appeared to be dead cells (or whatever they're called). I called Samsung, they sent out a technician 2 days later and replaced the screen at no charge within a week. So, for anyone who thinks that they'll be missing service quality should something go wrong, my experience showed me that my concerns were unfounded. |
