I did a lot of research for a relatively inexpensive combo that can perform. I wanted something to back up my DVR recordings onto DVDs. This is perfect for performance and price. Also, you can transfer the home videos that you never watch onto DVDs. This machine is simple to hook up and simple to use. It will even make arbitrary chapter marks, which are not accurate, but makes it simpler to navigate. You can name the disc, and you can record in sections and name them also. The only irritating drawback is that the machine is noisy. It hums when the power is on. I'm not used to that, as my former Sony was very quiet.
