Old DVD player? Plan to upgrade

There are many good reviews here already, so I won't drone on except with the things that I encountered.
If your DVD player doesn't have HDMI digital output, you may need to buy a new one to get a decent quality picture. My player was 5+ years old and the DVD picture was pretty bad, even with Component Video connection. I bought a Sony DVP-NS75H DVD Player (lower end model) with HDMI output and upconversion and now the picture is near HD.
One of the other reasons that I went with this model is that I didn't want to have to invest in a separate Home Theater Sound System. The sound on this TV is quite good.
Finally, the regular TV picture is pretty good, even with a "rabbit ears" antenna. I was quite surprised at that because I had heard that TV stations that aren't in HD format can look pretty bad.
