Surprisingly effective
|
I was surprised at how well this thing actually works. The packaging is a bit 3rd-rate, and the instructions are pretty poor (obviously not written by a native English speaker). But, once I had things set up, the results were great. I'm able to keep my satellite box and DVD player behind cabinet doors, and control both, along with my TV from any where in my room, no line of sight needed.
Set up was a bit awkward, though and the main reason for four instead of five stars. First, the instructions weren't that great. Also, the "UFO" portion of this device is itself a giant IR emitter, so you ideally would find a spot for it in front of the components you need to control. But, in most cases, that is easier said than done. This unit does come with a single IR emitter, but having a 2 or 3 head IR emitter cable would make a huge difference. But, once I was able to find a spot for the receiver/emitter unit, this think worked great.
So, while it could have been a bit easier to setup, this remote extender does exactly what it should and is considerably less money than other options. |
