Best Stereo Bluetooth Headphones
|
Stereo Bluetooth headphones are a new animal. As such, the pickings are still rather slim. I read all of the reviews on the few that are currently available. You'll notice that most had about a 50/50 satisfaction ratio. But most reviewers spoke well of the Bluetake BT450RX-L. So I purchased them, also.
They were very attractive: A small, round earpiece at each ear, of course. Both were smaller than the picture made them appear to be. So that was good. A thin wire connected them both and could hang either behind or in front of the neck. The wire in the picture looks like it would hang down to your waist. But, luckily, the one supplied was only collar-length. I liked the fact that there was no over-the-head or behind-the-neck connecting piece. They are unbearable on hot days. Instead, these clipped on at each ear.
Sound quality was excellent for phone functions. Unfortunately, I was never to experience the music functionality.
If your phone, PDA, or other device does not have the so-called "A2DP Profile," neither this or any other Stereo Bluetooth headset will work for the music feature without an additional, unacceptable receiver unit attached to your device.
It will, of course, still allow normal phone operations in mono and at both earpieces.
I regret, and am somewhat surprised, that my Sony Ericsson K750i cellphone did not have the A2DP capability. I had no choice but to return mine. So don't make the same mistake. Like me, most people expect that Stereo Bluetooth should work with their phones, and, frankly, none of the headset manufacturers make it clear enough that, as of August, 2006, it does not work with MOST phones and devices.
But, Chris and the staff at Bluetake, Inc. were top-notch. All the previous reviewers raved about their shipping speed. Mine arrived two days after a late Sunday night purchase. They have certainly remained consistent in that area. And, unlike many companies, they handled the RMA and refund with the same efficiency.
The Bluetake BT450RX-L is a great little product and deserves 5 stars. When I get my next phone, I'll know to ensure A2DP functionality. Then I will definitely buy these again. Do the same. But make sure your phone has A2DP so you won't have to put these guys through another needless product return. Though a little more focus from them on the A2DP issue would help in that regard.
