| The contents may not be exactly "Metal," but still a good collection for any rock fans, especially if you wish to know the roots of Hard Rock. Here is what you see on the tape (but not this order). Only Black Sabbath sings two songs, "Iron Man" and "Black Sabbath"; Mountain sings "Don't Look Back": MC5, "Kick Out the Jams": Deep Purple, "Highway Star"; Steppenwolf, "Rock Me"; Alice Cooper, "Eighteen." Highlight is MC5's act, which does include that famous opening shout (!) which really upset the record company. And Deep Purple's classic rock number with Ian Gillan is not to be missed. As far as I can guess, most of the performance are done live in studio (someone give me some data), and though no audience is there, every performance is worth your money, deserving the name of Hard Rock. I am just thrilled to see MC5's legendary guitarist Wayne Kramer and his play. |
