My love for the A & E version

| I cannot rate the earlier version of Pride & Prejudice, but I must say that I have not found any movie yet that exceeds my love for the A & E version of Pride & Prejudice. The movie held every element for me, drama, comedy, romance, etc. I have watched it so many times that I have lost count. I think Jennifer Ehle portrayed Lizzie as a woman perhaps before her time, strong and to some degree independent, especially in her ability to make choices. She would have been an encouragement even for women of this day. My only disappointment is that there is no Part II to this movie event. I would love to see a continuation of the antics of this family. I would certainly loved to have seen the younger sister brought down a peg or two. I say "Bravo!"to all who had a part in the making of this version. I hope to one day own all of the Jane Austin movies. I do have latest version of EMMA, but I was not impressed with actress Gwyneth Paltro's portrayal. She sounded as though she was talking throught her nose.I was not impressed with Kiera Knightly in the new Pride & Prejudice either. It took me a while to warm up to Persuasion because the volume is so low and there is less dramatic music (score). However when I settled down and turned it up louder I could understand what the characters were saying. Sense & Sensibility will also always be a favorite. |
