the best of the wutang collection I have seen

Quick list of the ones I am saying this is better than: the rest of the hidden chamber series, 18 fatal strikes and fist of legends 2. Some were bad, some were pretty good. This was the best.
Fong Yeh directs this and you may recognize him from old school classics such as 'Bloody Fists'. Becasue of his directing job the movie manages to make sense, have a decent story, and while not the greatest kung fu ever, there is a ton of it. The 10 killers do not dissapoint, and Bolo isn't even one of them.
Fong Yeh plays the uncle of a boy who is about to become constable because he is due for it and all the other constables have died. For him to become constable they want to take out the infamous 10 killers so that he will be safe. He also does a lot of training and these are some of the best scenes of the movie. If they are not fighting, they are training. The movie is only a 4 at best but with wall to wall fights and a TON of bonus features, this one easily gets it's 10.
San Kwai('drunken master' and 'the buddhist fist') plays the master of Nick Cheung. Cheung is one of my favorite kung fu actors ever. When watching him you will be able to tell right away that he was a real fighter. While he has the grace of a peking opera star, you can tell by his power that he means business. So he finds out that his master has only been training him so he can be an assasin. Being greedy for money, this doesn't bother him much at all. I won't give away any of the story but will say that the ending is typical. But only the very end, the final fight is AWESOME just as the rest of the movie is. So get this and I promise you won't be dissapointed. Even Kong Do shows up as the 10th killer. Don't know that name, I gaurantee you will recognize him from a ton of movies. Too many people to name in here, but I thought I would point out the great Kong Do(he carries the flaming sword in Shaolin Prince, is in 'Tiger over Wall', and is second to Johnny Wang Lung Wei in 'Return of Master Killer').
The special features are almost as good as the movie. Let me start off by telling you what to expect in the 10 MAGNIFICENT FIGHTS BONUS FEATURE. Mang Fei and Chi Kuan Chun in a good one teaming up. A Golden Harvest looking movie( I say that becasue of the actors) where Chan Lung(from 'Prodigal son' and 'Fong Sai Yuk' 1 and 2 ) goes off on people with his chicken style. Bruce Liang and Kuan Chun vs. Chen sing and his iron hand. Another one from some TV movie where Hwang Jang Lee(silver fox) is wearing a t-shirt and jeans and he pulls out ALL of his moves! Also a super weird one with Chen Kuan Tai.
The bonus fights are incredible as always. 3 of everybody. Fong Yeh shows his thai kickboxing skills off. Bolo proves to be way underused again as we see him in some WEIRD movies. Bai Sai Ngai(big eye little eye)has some really cool fights. Nick Cheung has one of the worst fight scenes ever filmed with a bruce lee clone movie. And also San Kwai's clips are HILARIOUS!!!!!!
This DVD is a must have. |
