Unintentionally hilarious
|
This movie has all the hallmarks of a potential hard hitting noir thriller at the beginning, and just when you expect the big tough Robert Mitchum like lead DA to walk in, you get-----David Caruso, with his red hair, feeble looking physique, bad skin, and ridiculously unbelievable "tough guy" attempt, which he seems to play in every show or movie. First of all, Assistant District Attorneys PROSECUTE cases AFTER the police conclude the investigation----they don't head up the investigation themselves, direct crime scenes and engage in one man car chases of suspects and witnesses. Second, who is going to ever believe that Linda Fiorintino would have ever had a romantic thing with the puny nebbish Caruso at one time and would still have a "thing" for him and his bureacrat salary and while married to a rich guy and living in a mansion? Laughable. Third, once his ex girlfriend now married to his supposed best friend, a rich powerful defense attorney (Palmenteire) becomes the prime suspect, no District Attorney could remain on the case without severe conflicts of interest.
What is also baffling is the complete lack of development of the motives behind what the governor (Crenna)is doing and why he would be a complete thug and crook all in the name of some nookie. Interesting to watch for all the wrong reasons, and the ending will leave with a feeling of---where is the rest of the movie? |
