Tried and true methods that have been around for some time

This is a pretty good video for beginning carpenters and do-it-yourselfers alike. First, Tom explains what the various framing parts are of a typical house. Then, he demonstrates how to prepare openings for window installations to help keep out drafts. Then, he shows how to shim, level, and nail-off the window.
In the door section, Tom shows how to install pre-hung doors that are common in home centers. The explanations he gives are easy to understand and follow. You will also learn what to do for doors that are hitting the frame unevenly just by making some minor adjustments to the hinges.
For those who have dealt with the headache of installing a door into a frame that is out of square, and out of plumb, you will be pleased with the methods he teaches on correcting this problem. |
