Hey, it was better than CRITTERS 3.

While watching this film I kept thinking that director Jim Mickle and his crew/ cast are quite talented and do an impressive job of storytelling and creating a sense of doom all on an obviously very low budget. That observation made I wanted this film to succeed but unfortunately from the compressed gas canister scene (DAWN OF THE DEAD remake) to the fate of the daughter character (original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD) to the mother/ son zombie reunion (BURIAL GROUND) to even the rundown low rise apartment building under siege by rat like monsters (CRITTERS 3) nearly everything in this film has been done before.
If that type of thing doesn't bother you then you might enjoy this film a little more, but beware this is a low budget film with crowd scenes that look more like they were filmed at a parade than a city wide rat attack and confusing close ups instead of actual fight scenes.
Overall the film is a good watch as long as you don't expect too much. Hopefully Mickle will have a better outing next time. |
