The best way to describe it is as an art film that became very popular. The story of a teenage girl who becomes pregnant by accident, but has too much of a heart to use birth control, she decides to give the baby away. She finds very interesting parents who are willing, but their characters change dramatically over the course of the film, and one can never tell who the "bad guy" really is. With fire tongued dialogue and amazing acting, it is a combination of a comedy and a drama, a combo that is very dangerous, done by others it would surely have been catastrophic.
