the unusual band

| As reported elsewhere, the sound quality of this recording isn't great, but if you've gotten used to the quality of the live CD's released by One World from the archives, you won't be shocked. Interestingly, the band here does not include a bass player. This is unusual given the important role played by bassists like Danny and Alan Thompson in John's most familiar live settings. The absence of a bassist is not disastrous, and actually gives John's electric guitar a more central role in the arrangements (although it takes about 3 songs to get the guitar up to a satisfactory level in the mix). |
