I feel a little cheated.

I almost purchased this DVD. I'm glad I did not. I rented it and found it very flat. Halfway through it, I stopped the DVD player and decided not to continue because I did not care about any of the characters. This movie is very unengaging. The next day, out of curiosity about the fate of the elderly farmer and his brother(I found their relationship interesting) I watched the remainder of the movie. All in all, I would say that the story outline was good, but very poorly fleshed out. The young woman is nice to look at, but I did not feel her character was convincing. This is probably not the actress's fault.
There are two real scenes of animal slaughter. What was the point of such savage realism when the more pleasant parts of the film did not convince?
The scenery, photography, and music are very nice.
The Extra Features explain how the opening sequences were photographed. This was very interesting for me. I wish a better film maker would try his/her hand at this story.
