KIKI!! PUSH THE BUTTON! PUSH THE BUTTON!!

Found this in a bargain bin at a big-box store. I remember how good it was when I first saw it, so picked it up and watched it again. I thought the inclusion of "Arrival II" was cool, but more on that later.
This is a simple story. Aliens invade, Their plans thwarted, go home crying.
It's premise however, is anything but. This is no "Klaatu berada Nikto". THESE aliens are, on the surface, just like us. Enter one Charlie Sheen, who plays a radio astronomer, who discovers a signal!.... From another planet!!.... Who gets fired for it!!!
Upon further investigation, he finds that the signal is emanating not from space, but from South of the Border! He goes down, finds some very interesting things, things that the Aliens are willing to kill for. It seems THEY are responsible for Global Warming! Those pesky critters!
Upon his return home, he discovers that the Aliens keep popping up in the darndest places. Who can he trust (X-Files tag)?
This film is definitely original. Sheen does a great job portraying someone who comes across more than just a little paranoid.
"Arrival II" was a disappointment, however. It continues from the end of the first film, but the actors can't act their way out of a paper bag. You can only come to the same conclusion I did, the quality of acting is extremely important if you want to tell a decent sci-fi tale.
Overall, get this DVD for "Arrival", and just skip the flip side, or just paint over the sequel side, and treat it as a single-sided disc!
